Actually, here in Colon we have the second largest free-zone (Zona Libre) in the world, where you can shop anything you like. It's a huge place with international stores and warehouses, all surrounded by a wall. You can go shopping there on weekdays between 8 and 5 (some places are open on Saturday morning also), but make sure you have your ID with you to show it at entrance. You can take a free map from hotels to see what shops can you find there.
