The peninsula of Fuerte Amador is one of the places most marked by the conflict in 1989. The buildings there still bear signs of the fights, but the city was immensely renovated during the past few years. The centre of the city is now host of many sports and music events. The Naos beach is also very popular with tourists, although the water is very polluted. The town is worth a visit, anyway.
